Issue 0: a trial run
Before the first real issue, we’re testing every step of making one. This is the result.

You’re reading Issue 0 of the Keybaki Journal. It isn’t the first real issue; that comes in December. Issue 0 is a trial run.
Every issue of the journal goes through the same steps. Pieces are written, edited and approved by the people who wrote them. They’re laid out as pages, and the pages become the flipbook on keybaki.com. Before we ask teachers, parents and learners to trust us with their writing, we wanted to walk through every one of those steps ourselves and see that each of them works.
So this issue is written by the journal itself, about the journal. It explains what the journal is for, how a piece gets from an idea to a page, how we look after the writing of learners who are under 18, and how you can write for us.
In the flipbook, the pages turn with a swipe on a phone. On a computer they sit side by side like a printed magazine, and the arrow keys turn them. All pages shows every page at once, and Zoom makes the text larger. Every piece is also a page of its own, listed under the flipbook.
If something doesn’t work, or doesn’t read well on your screen, that’s exactly what a trial run is for. We’d like to know.
Issue 1, in December, looks back on one year of senior school: the first year of Grade 10 under CBE, told by the teachers, parents and learners who lived it.
