Why Keybaki exists, and what we're publishing here
By The Keybaki team
If you teach Grade 7 to 12 in Kenya, you already know the math: between the new CBE framework, the strand-and-sub-strand structure, the differentiation expectations, and the textbook lag, planning a single week of lessons can quietly eat a Sunday. Keybaki started because we kept hearing the same sentence — "I love teaching; I hate the prep."
This is the blog where we'll explain what we're shipping, why, and what we're learning from the teachers using it.
What Keybaki actually does
Three things, intentionally narrow:
- A strand-aware lesson planner. Pick a CFItem from the KICD framework. Keybaki drafts the 5E phases, learning outcomes, materials, and differentiation — anchored to the exact strand you're teaching. Edit any block; the draft is yours.
- A curriculum library. KICD content plus your own uploads. Filter by subject, grade, sub-strand. Bookmark whole weeks in advance.
- Continuous assessments. Run a 10-question CEA against a strand at the end of a lesson. Auto-scored. Weak strands automatically suggest what to revise in next week's plan.
What it deliberately doesn't do (yet): grading workflows, parent-teacher chat, attendance, behaviour tracking. We'll add what teachers ask for in that order — not what's easiest to build.
What this blog will cover
A few flavours, no fixed cadence:
- Curriculum notes — how a specific strand maps to a lesson plan, where the KICD framework gets fiddly, what to do when the textbook lags the outcomes.
- Product updates — the screens we ship, the data behind them, the reasons for the design choices we made.
- Classroom techniques — short, practical pieces from teachers using Keybaki for real lessons. We pay for these.
